How Availability, Rarity, and Rule Version Fit Together
A fur name must be read with species and sex availability. The same label may exist only for certain animals and may carry a completely different rarity elsewhere.
Known variants, classification notes, and rule version explain the evidence. If the reference is stale, update the mappings before interpreting a local detection.

Old Scar and the difference between fur data and trophy appearance
Hotfix 9.2.1 fixed Old Scar so taxidermizing the mission Jaguar now produces her unique fur variation. Players who had already completed the mission were granted a corrected trophy while older pseudo-melanistic trophies were retained.
This is a useful boundary for a fur guide: the saved fur classification, the Harvest Screen model, and the trophy-lodge appearance can disagree because of a visual bug. The official Known Issues list still warns about visual issues for some Peru species and missing eyes on some Great One Jaguar trophies.
