Interface Settings, Mapping Updates, and Version Updates

Back to documentation contents

This chapter is part of our “the hunter call of the wild cheats” guide. The tool provides read-only save analysis and does not offer cheats or modify game data.

Feature Objectives

  • Switch between Chinese and English interfaces;
  • Adjust the global font size;
  • Set the refresh-monitoring interval;
  • View icon meanings;
  • Check for and import mapping update packages;
  • View the desktop version and license status;
  • Complete a mandatory version update.

1. Open More Options

Click the three-dot button at the top right of the main interface.

The menu contains:

  • Language;
  • Scheduled monitoring;
  • Global interface font size;
  • Mapping data management;
  • License status;
  • Desktop version number.

Click the close button, the area outside the menu, or the three-dot button again to close the menu.

2. Switch the Interface Language

  1. Open More Options.
  2. In the Language drop-down list, select:
    • Simplified Chinese;
    • English.
  3. The interface text switches immediately.
  4. Close the menu and inspect the Map, Profile, and Harvests pages.

The language selection is saved locally and is not written to the game save.

3. Adjust the Global Font Size

  1. Open More Options.
  2. Find Global Interface Font Size.
  3. Click + to enlarge it or − to reduce it.
  4. Observe the percentage in the middle.
  5. Click the percentage to restore the default 100%.

The font-size setting affects every page. After enlargement, the layout may switch to an arrangement better suited to large text.

4. Configure Scheduled Monitoring

  1. Open More Options.
  2. Under Scheduled Monitoring, select:
    • Off;
    • 30 seconds;
    • 1 minute;
    • 5 minutes;
    • 15 minutes.
  3. Close the menu.
  4. Use the monitoring switch at the top to quickly start or stop it.

Recommendations:

ScenarioRecommended interval
Watching for population changes after the game saves30 seconds or 1 minute
Normal use while playing5 minutes
Keeping the tool open for a long time15 minutes
Controlling refreshes manuallyOff

Refreshing too frequently does not make the game write its save any faster and may increase the chance of encountering a partially written file.

5. View Icon Help

  1. Click the question-mark button at the top right.
  2. The Icon Help drawer opens on the right.
  3. View each icon's name and meaning by feature group.
  4. You can also hover over buttons in the main interface for brief descriptions.
  5. Click the drawer's close button or the overlay to return.

6. Check the Current Mapping Version

Mappings determine names and rules for species, reserves, furs, equipment, dogs, trophy thresholds, and other data.

Procedure

  1. Open More Options.
  2. Find Mapping Data Management.
  3. View the current version and source:
    • Package bundled with the app;
    • Imported update package.
  4. Click the version-status button.
  5. Wait for the current mapping status message.

An outdated mapping version commonly causes:

  • Species to display as hashes;
  • New furs to display as not covered;
  • Equipment or dog attributes to remain unmapped;
  • Incomplete Great One and trophy determinations.

7. Import a Mapping Update Package

Prepare the File

Use a complete JSON update package from a trusted source:

cotw-mappings-<version>.json

Import Procedure

  1. Open More Options.
  2. Click Update Mappings.
  3. Select the update package in the Windows file picker.
  4. Confirm that the file type is JSON.
  5. Wait while the app validates the manifest, version, and content.
  6. After a successful import, inspect the notification.
  7. Confirm that the mapping source is now an imported update package and that its version number has changed.
  8. Click Refresh Now at the top.
  9. Recheck the species, furs, and harvest details.

Handle an Import Failure

  1. Confirm that the file is not an archive, webpage, or individual mapping fragment;
  2. Confirm that the filename and content came from a trusted release channel;
  3. Do not manually modify the JSON and then import it directly;
  4. Download the complete update package again;
  5. Import it again and record the error message.

If an import fails, the current working mappings are not replaced with incomplete content.

8. View the Desktop Version

  1. Open More Options.

  2. Find DESKTOP at the bottom of the menu.

  3. Record the version number, for example:

    v1.0.23

When reporting a problem, provide all of the following:

  • Desktop version;
  • Mapping version;
  • Windows version;
  • Current page;
  • Error-message text.

9. Update the Desktop App

The desktop app and mapping package are two different kinds of update:

Update typeUpdated contentProcedure
Desktop versionApp, interface, native core, and bundled resourcesDownload a new Portable EXE
Mapping versionNames, hashes, furs, and classification rulesImport a JSON package in More Options

Mandatory Update Procedure

  1. Desktop Update Required appears at startup.
  2. Verify the current version and latest version.
  3. Click the download link.
  4. Download the latest Portable EXE.
  5. Close the old version.
  6. Start the new version.
  7. Confirm the version number in More Options.
  8. Check the save path and mapping version.

Do not use a mapping update package in place of a desktop-version update. A mapping package cannot remove a mandatory version lock.

10. View and Manage the License

  1. Open More Options.
  2. Click the license-status badge.
  3. View the license validity period and offline lease.
  4. Verify online immediately or deactivate the device as needed.

For the complete procedure, see Install, Start, and License a Device.

11. Interface Settings Saved Locally

The following settings are stored in the desktop app's local page storage or app data:

  • Language;
  • Font size;
  • Scheduled refresh interval;
  • Map-landmark visibility;
  • Most recently selected save directory;
  • Imported mapping package;
  • License and version-check status.

Clearing app data may reset these settings, but does not delete or modify the game save.
